NOIDA: In wake of rising street crimes in the national capital region, Noida Police, along with its counterparts from Ghaziabad and Delhi, launched ‘Operation Prahar’ in Khoda on Saturday.
In the special joint operation, 27 people with a history of criminal activities were detained on Saturday and released the next day after cops could not “find anything suspicious”.

As many as 120 policemen from the three districts were roped in the operation. They marched along in the Khoda area and questioned over 100 suspects to verify their whereabouts and create a dossier on them, said officials.
Ranvijay Singh, additional DCP (zone 3) said a list of 120 criminals who were primarily accused in robbery, snatching and theft was prepared. “We knocked on all the houses where these suspects were reportedly living to question them about the recent whereabouts and activities in a two-hour-long operation between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday,” he said, adding that most of them were found to have not been involved in anything suspicious. But, 27 were taken to the police lines for detailed questioning.
The detained suspects went through a day-long questioning with the cops. “It has been a great exercise as we now have their records, including telephone numbers and addresses of their close contacts, with the help of which we can trace them whenever needed,” the ADCP said. The ADCP said that the operation was police commissioner Alok Singh’s “unique idea” that aimed towards giving a message to the criminals that “they are on our radar”.
He said similar operations will continue to be carried out in areas that are notorious hideouts for criminals. “More pockets like Khoda are being identified to carry out similar activities. We will continue maintaining records of these street criminals,” he added.
